MUSIMAGEM FESTIVAL 2026

Join us in celebrating music for film, where creativity and innovation come together. Explore workshops, panel discussions, and concerts that are shaping the future of soundtracks!

About the Festival

The Musimagem Festival is now in its twelfth edition, for the second consecutive year in partnership with USP!

In addition to Brazilian and international guests and the composers from Musimagem, the music-for-the-screen festival—the first of its kind in the Americas—kicks off another edition in partnership with the Brazilian Union of Composers (UBC), Abramus, Assim, designer Maurizio Manzo, the Spanish website SoundtrackFest, producer Robert Townson, and, once again, with the special partnership of the School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo (ECA/USP), through its Department of Film, Radio, and Television (CTR).

Since its inception, the festival has been establishing its importance not only for professionals working in the audiovisual and music industries, but also for audiences passionate about the soundtracks of audiovisual works—whether in film, TV, series, video games, advertising, or journalism. This presence has been increasingly recognized by the specialized press, both in Brazil and abroad.

From August 9 to 12, the festival will feature lectures and panel discussions with composers from various parts of Brazil, composer Rui Reis Maia (Netherlands), and composer David Mansfield, who is based in the U.S., as well as concerts by the Musimágicos and our partner, the ALMAI Orchestra, featuring arranger Alexey Kurkdjian Ogalla and musical director Anselmo Mancini.

May it be a wonderful, enriching, and exciting festival!

August 10

10 a.m. — Course: “Creative Processes in Audiovisual Composition”

The course is divided into three parts: the first, which is brief and expository, sets the stage for the second part, during which the audience works collectively to create music for excerpts from pre-existing films (screening, analysis, discussion, and proposal). Finally, in the third part, the process explored is analyzed and evaluated.

Felipe Radicetti

2:00 p.m. — Panel Discussion: “AI in Soundtracks: From Fear to Routine”

This panel will feature a practical discussion on the use of Artificial Intelligence in soundtrack production, drawing on the real-world experience of professionals who already use these tools in their daily work. The idea is not to discuss whether AI “is good or bad,” nor to engage in abstract philosophical or legal speculation, but to show how these technologies are being incorporated into the actual workflows of creation, production, and delivery of soundtracks for audiovisual media. The discussion will cover tools, approaches, limitations, efficiency gains, and creative impacts, featuring practical examples and complementary perspectives from those currently working in this field.
